Holy Supper, The Most Glorious Sacred Memorial

Congregants of The Light of the World Church in California, celebrated the Holy Supper of our Lord Jesus Christ in the city of Ontario on the evening of March 27th at the Toyota Arena. Members from cities throughout the state were in attendance to partake in the festivities, where services were held in English and Spanish.

By celebrating the Holy Supper, the faithful once again fulfilled the commandment given by Jesus Christ just hours before he was taken by the Roman authorities. On that day, gathered with his holy Apostles, he took the bread in his hands and blessed it, saying, “Take, eat; This is my body, which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:24).

In that memorable first sacrament, after blessing and imparting bread with his Apostles, he also took the cup, saying, “This is the cup of the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:25).

According to this commandment, the Holy Supper was established by Jesus Christ to remember the day that his redemptive sacrifice brought spiritual liberty for those who believe in Him.

Before the bread and wine were blessed with Apostolic authority, a fervent service of worship to God and Jesus Christ was held. A choir composed of voices from all the state of California sang beautiful hymns of praise to God and Jesus Christ. Soloists also sang various hymns in remembrance of the passion, death, and resurrection of the Son of God.

Spiritual fervor and emotions intensified when an apostolic representative read the words of blessing that the Apostle of Jesus Christ, Naasón Joaquín García, addressed with great love to the guests at the solemn feast:

“We shall partake of a great blessing: of the body and blood of Christ, which is the most glorious sacred memorial, established to be fulfilled by a people who know how to value its meaning, who enjoy the fulfillment of his word, and enjoy the Holy Spirit’s work through his power.”

In the final part of the Apostolic message, for the prayer of intercession and mercy on behalf of the partaking of the Lord’s Supper, the apostolic message was read and stated: “Arise, O Lord, shake the earth with your mercy, cleanse souls from sin, have mercy on those afflicted by the enemy, purify souls with your grace.  Raise them up with your power and glory…”

From that moment on, the church, all members of one spiritual family of faith, rejoiced in partaking of the bread and wine with liberty, devotion, and spirituality in representation of the body and blood of Christ. In participating of the sacrament, they obtained peace, communion, and blessing from God.

The Lord’s Supper helped to strengthen the spiritual bonds of love among the members of the Church, who joyfully assumed the commitment to continue following the teachings of Christ in all areas of their lives, through the practice of the values of the gospel, among which love stands out, faith and hope.

The Holy Supper festivity concluded with a fraternal farewell ceremony, in which the church members embraced each other in a fraternal hug and salutation, and expressed words of unity among each other, celebrating the great triumph of Jesus Christ in the Lord’s Supper.
