The Holy Supper: a call to communion with Christ

2 de May de 2024 | Holy Supper, Holy Supper San Diego, CA

In an atmosphere of respect and fellowship, thousands of members of the Light of the World church from San Diego County, California gathered to commemorate the redemptive sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prior to the event, members of the choirs that would elevate their hymns at the Holy Supper Service in the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel were ushered in one by one. The flags of the countries where members of the church are present were perfectly positioned in every part of the venue.

The venue was ready, the floral decorations allowed for a fragrant garden-like scent to permeate the room; the church members walked through the hotel lobby, walking among the guests and tourists arriving, all in formal attire. The English-speaking faithful walked towards the hall prepared for them, while the Spanish-speaking members lined up anxiously waiting to enter what would be the spiritual event they had so long awaited.

At 3:00 p.m. the Holy Supper Service began, with the venue filled with persons of faith who, from various parts of San Diego County, California, as well as delegates from the city of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, arrived at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel; the songs echoed throughout the venue, the raised hands and expressions of faith flooded the hearts of those present with emotion.

Groups of brothers and sisters offered their personal songs to God to provide a moment of meditation, while the officiating minister highlighted the life, work, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, an act for which thousands of souls were gathered.

When the time came, the Evangelist Pastor who was appointed by the Apostle of Jesus Christ to represent him, presented the bread and wine in prayer, so that, once consecrated by apostolic authority, the Deacons would impart it to the church and thus renew the covenant with Christ, “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). The choirs sang their hymns as the members of the church solemnly participated, infusing the space with a spiritual sense of faith and fervor.

At the conclusion of the partaking of the bread and wine, the church joined in a prayer of worship to God, expressing in unity their gratitude for being allowed to enjoy fellowship with Christ again. “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.” (John 6:56).

To conclude the night of spiritual joy, the attendees, moved by faith, peace, and joy, gave each other a farewell embrace filled with emotions that were transmitted in each embrace, and in all of them the invitation to remain firm in the faith and teaching of the Apostle of Jesus Christ; it was a farewell full of hope, of certainty that, someday they would meet again to commemorate the Holy Supper.
